Based on 292 reviewsMain Street Pub in Gainesville garners consistent praise for its warm and inviting atmosphere, complemented by attentive and friendly service that stands out among local establishments. Reviewers frequently highlight the quality and flavor of the food, noting well-prepared dishes such as steak and seafood specials. The pub’s unique decor, including notable wall art and a memorable large longhorn mount, adds to its charm and appeal. Customers appreciate the welcoming environment, suitable for both casual dining and special family occasions. While the pub is recognized primarily for its food and service, its beverage selection and accommodating staff further enhance the overall experience, making it a favored spot within the community.
I visited this past Tuesday totally enjoyed my experience so I thought I would drop my review. I was surprised to not see all 5 stars. It was highly recommend by many ( have you tried the pub yet) so I took the time to read the non-5 star reviews. All said the service was outstanding and it was true the service was fantastic! The food was good and that also true. I ate every bite, I was so full when I left! The place was clean the cut of meats were high quality. Not even the bad reviews had anything negative about the actual restaurant , staff, atmosphere, nothing that warrants a bad review. They zoned in on cost with the comparison of chain restaurants. I expected to pay a little more for the historical area. What I didn’t expect was the friendly accommodations that were given, like they really did appreciate my business. Wow I felt like this would be my place to go if I didn’t live in North Carolina! I was visiting my brother & sister Inlaw who I know will now be frequent customers. I like these people, I like the history of the decorations, I like the food, I liked the temperature they kept the room, I liked everything about this place! Then they came up to the table and said pick a number on Tuesday’s you can roll the dice if the number you pick comes up the whole table will be free! There were 5 of us so that was a risk for them. We picked 9 but rolled 4 so no we didn’t win but it sure was fun thinking we might!! So back to the cost. You get what you pay for. I’m sure those customers would not enjoy a 3 star rating on the job they do. IF they do the best at their trade in town! Nor would they want a pay cut to get people to like them. I guess they do not understand. Highly recommend!
Wow!!! This is such an amazing little pub in downtown. The decor is warm and inviting and staff super friendly. Nice beer selection! Now, let’s talk food. Holy Moly! We had the dinner special. 4 course meal for 2 for just 36. We started with the mushrooms. They were cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. We also had the Sirloin and pan fried trout. Both melt in your mouth good. The pinto beans were some of the best I’ve ever had. Seasoned with onion and jalapeño. Mmmm mmm good. And the Jambalaya soup was as good as it is in Louisiana. Then came the hot peach cobbler. Pure heaven.
Fun bar and restaurant with the largest longhorn mount i have ever seen, they call him "Hercules". I only had drinks but the food looked wonderful. You could spend 1/2 an hour just looking at the pictures on the wall. This is not a biker bar but they made us feel welcome. Really good bartender.
I want to thank Paul and his team for helping my family and I honor my brother Terry Wyattt’s passing. On very short notice, he and his team made our family’s time together very meaningful with good food and drinks and atmosphere and love.
The service here is unmatched. We go here often because of the servers! They always provide excellent service, you don’t find that in many restaurants anymore. We love the food too, always get the chicken fried steak. We are very happy regulars!
Best restaurant we've had style moving out of metroplex. Lemon drop martinis and old fashioneds were great. Salmon, green beans, brocoli, asparagus, ribeye, cheeseburger, kids mac and cheese. All fantastic. Highly recommend!!
This wonderful restaurant is in the historical downtown area of Gainesville.I’ve stopped in a few times for lunch and have loved the food and service every time. They have daily lunch specials which are great.
DInner was awesome! We had margaritas on the rocks and they were amazing as well. The service was great, fast and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was laid back and very inviting. The restaraunt was clean and well decorated. The food came out fresh, fast and hot. We had the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken, mashed potatos, green beans, asparagus, and peach cobbler for dessert.
